Nanollose was founded in 2014 and took the brave step of introducing tree-free rayon. 

Rayon or Viscose-Rayon refers to a fiber that is composed of cellulose coming from wood-pulp. However, as you may have guessed, this fiber is not as sustainable as its production demands a significant amount of trees to be cut down. 

This is then followed by an energy intensive process where the cut and chipped trees go through purification process to produce the rayon. 

As a response to this, Nanollose has found the solution, tree-free rayon. This tree-free rayon is made from microbes that are transform waste matter into microbial cellulose. This cellulose is then utilized to create fiber and garments. 

The Nanollose method spans across only a month and utilizes a significantly fewer land, water, and energy compared to the traditional method of producing rayon.
